Copper River
Coho Technology Solutions is looking for a High Voltage Electrician (HVE) with experience supporting commonly used high voltage electric power distribution equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments and control systems. Selected candidates will be considered a Qualified Person, which is one who has received training in and has demonstrated skills and knowledge in the construction and operation of electric equipment and installations and hazards involved.
Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, monitor, install, and operate high voltage electrical systems (e.g., transformers, switching stations, distribution and transmission lines, circuit breakers, substations, control panels and building systems)
Use all tools and equipment applicable to the high voltage electrician trade
Operate equipment, detect deficiencies and make repairs, diagnose problems, and install devices, equipment, and parts
Plan and execute troubleshooting solutions through repair of high voltage systems
Read and understand circuit diagrams of interconnects
Read circuit diagrams and perform troubleshooting layout, and complete installation, modification, and repair on high voltage distribution systems
Apply use of test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, power quality meters, insulation resistance tester, high potential tester, phase sticks, phase rotation meters, digital test equipment, other electrical test equipment, and cable locating and fault finding equipment
Diagnose and determine corrective action for electric power‑controlling equipment
Qualifications Education
Minimum Level III Electrical Testing Technician (ETT) certification or equivalent proof of a four (4) year electrician apprenticeship program or 8,000 hours of equivalent electrical type training
Required Knowledge/Experience:
The HVE must have a minimum of 2 years full time experience working as a journeyman HVE
HVEs possess a strong knowledge and skill in the high voltage electricity trade
Knowledge of electrical theory, formulas, and the mathematical skill in order to derive voltage, current, and power related formulas
Read, interpret standard construction blueprint and operating manuals, and be proficient in the use of all standard electrical trade related tools and equipment
Experience as a journeyman in overhead & underground distribution construction, substations/switchyards, to include maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting procedures
Experience in low voltage systems including maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of power breakers, equipment in high voltage switchyards, substations, and power operations centers
Participate in special projects such as pre‑commissioning/checkout of new substations, stage additions, or substation inspections and commissioning preparation
Ability to drive a motorized vehicle and possess a valid California “C” driver’s license
Working knowledge relating to applicable codes and guidance, ensuring compliance with safe clearance procedures and safety rules and regulations
Knowledge in new construction and maintenance of distribution systems, Sub Station maintenance including medium voltage (5kv-69kv) breakers; air, sf6 gas, oil and vacuum switches and Load Tap Changing Power Transformers
Position Pay Range $52.85—$52.85 USD
