What you will do The Senior Electrical Engineer acts on behalf of the Engineering Department to ensure that the MV/LV Electrical Execution Engineering group provides consistent, high-quality, cost-effective, and timely deliverables and products for the construction of wind, solar and storage energy facilities. Oversee, guide, and manage the design efforts of third‑party consultants directly or through an EPC contractor. Additionally promote environmental stewardship and a health and safety‑focused culture within the Electrical Engineering group. Additional responsibilities include providing support to operating facilities as needed.
Role Overview Main responsibilities
Act as a subject matter expert regarding medium and low voltage, AC and DC systems design for wind, solar, and battery storage facilities
Ensure MV/LV electrical design complies with all EDPR, ISO, utility, regional electrical entity, environmental, health & safety, project local authority, and industry code and standard requirements
Design deliverables include collection system design drawings for wind, solar, and battery storage plants, short circuit study, reactive power and load flow study, grounding study, loss study, cable ampacity study, DC arc flash study, power plant controller and SCADA rack design, inverter settings, special plant modelling and system tuning analyses
Drive design innovation and optimization to ensure reduction in overall project costs to maximize power purchase agreement award potential
Direct and manage engineering consultants directly, or through an EPC contractor, to ensure all design deliverables are provided in a timely manner to maintain project schedule
Coordinate project activities with internal clients including Construction, Operations, Development, Environmental, Estimating, Energy Assessment, Health & Safety, Procurement, Legal, and Central Technical Direction to facilitate interdepartmental relations
Attend monthly project construction meetings to maintain current knowledge of project status and to provide support and to coordinate with site team to resolve critical and time‑sensitive construction‑related electrical issues
Collaborate with Development Engineering team with preliminary internal engineering needed to support the Development pipeline and to ensure a smooth EPC contract handoff.
Coordinate with procurement team to procure project equipment by creating datasheets, reviewing technical proposals and equipment drawings, and attend equipment factory acceptance tests as needed
Support with periodic reviews and modifications of internal engineering design guidelines to maintain and capture the best practices and lessons learned into project designs.

What are we looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of design and engineering experience
1 – 2 years of engineering project management experience
Ability to manage the work of third party consultants and service contracts
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
Travel Willingness and ability to travel as needed (25 % travel anticipated)
Behavioral Requirements
Strong level of initiative and ability to work unsupervised
Strong organizational commitment and high attention to detail
Strong leadership and time‑management skills
Demonstrated ability to provide engineering support on multiple concurrent projects
Ability to plan, schedule, track, and monitor project progress
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
Ability to work successfully with a team daily in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment
Physical demands & working conditions
Sitting/Standing/Flexibility:
Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching while on project sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
Speech/Reading:
Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Lifting:
Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds
Vision/Hearing:
Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Safety:
Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
Walking:
Ability to walk several miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites
