Job Description This role involves leading technical teams in developing and maintaining cost‑effective processes and procedures for parts and assemblies manufacturing. The engineer provides technical support to Sales, Operations, Quality, and CNC Programming, leads assigned projects, and maintains manufacturing plans in the ERP system. The position focuses on continuous improvement opportunities and maintaining proper documentation.
Responsibilities
Lead teams in developing cost‑effective processes and procedures that meet customer requirements, quality standards, and LEAN principles.
Support Sales with technical insights on projects, ensuring manufacturability, and aiding in bid submissions.
Lead assigned projects, support the MRB process, and provide engineering support to Operations and Quality to troubleshoot manufacturing process issues.
Recommend equipment, fixtures, and cutting tools for parts and assemblies production.
Input and maintain manufacturing plans in the ERP system, including parts inventory, product structure, and routings.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement LEAN principles throughout the organization.
Develop and maintain documentation related to projects, including engineering changes and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with CNC Programming to ensure programs are completed and verified before project start dates.
Plan, design, and coordinate integration of new equipment into the manufacturing process.
Essential Skills
5‑7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, medical device manufacturing, and process engineering.
Experience with manufacturing equipment, machining (Mill and Swiss preferred), continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing, ISO standards, milling machines, ERP systems, design for manufacturing, CNC machines, CNC programming, tooling design, CAD software, and Six Sigma.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5 years of manufacturing experience or an associate degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in CAD software.
Project leadership experience or certifications.
Proficiency in PC skills, especially Windows, Word, and Excel.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to travel between company sites as needed.
Experience designing and selecting fixturing and tooling for complex parts.
Experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
LEAN / Six Sigma training and demonstrated application.
Experience with CAM software, Swiss or milling.
Experience working within an ISO environment.
Experience optimizing processes and achieving ongoing cost reductions.
Experience conducting process capability studies.
Work Environment Standard work attire is expected. The role can be performed during standard first shift hours or a 4/10 schedule with 5 hours of PTO on Fridays. Occasional travel to the Big Lake facility may be required, with prior notice provided.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Coon Rapids, MN.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year. Competitive benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and floating holidays.
