Position Purpose At
Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Health Informatics Nurse – Cardiovascular Specialty ensures accurate and timely clinical data integrity for cardiovascular services. This role supports quality improvement and patient safety by managing data abstraction and registry reporting for cardiovascular procedures and quality outcomes.
What You Will Do
Understand appropriate clinical documentation to ensure the severity of illness, risk of mortality, and level of services are accurately reflected in the health record.
Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of patient health records to ensure accurate, complete, and timely data entry into designated registries.
Prepare presentations and review data at regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings.
Participate in quality improvement, research, and accreditation projects and support those projects with data reviews and reports.
Ensure documentation of discharge diagnoses and co‑morbidities fully reflects patient status and care
Ensure compliance with reporting standards and timelines.
Collaborate with clinical teams to improve documentation and workflows.
Provide insights for quality initiatives and patient safety.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Graduated from an accredited nursing school. A bachelor’s in Nursing is
strongly preferred and encouraged.
Valid and current Connecticut RN license
The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience in cardiovascular nursing (e.g., cath lab, cardiac surgery, telemetry, ICU).
Strong knowledge of clinical documentation and data abstraction.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, basic statistical analysis.
Preferred
Experience with registry reporting (e.g., STS, ACC-NCDR).
Familiarity with Epic or similar EMR systems.
Current BLS/CPR (certification support offered post‑hire)

Compensation Range: $75,712 – $121,160
