Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner Job with CommonSpirit Health in Tacoma, WA
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) is seeking an experienced Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Physician Assistant (PA‑C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) – to join our well‑established, cohesive surgical team.
Responsibilities
Endoscopic vein harvest
Cardiac surgery first assist
Robotic thoracic surgery bedside first assist
ICU, PCU, and medical‑surgical rounds
Practice Details
Full spectrum conventional cardiac and thoracic surgery (except VAD, ECMO, and transplant)
Consistently achieve highest STS quality metrics – multiyear, multiple 3 Star
Low PA/NP and surgeon turnover
Hospital based – OR, ICU, PCU, surgical units
Single hospital practice
Traditional sternotomy based cardiac surgeries
Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery
All lung resection surgeries performed with DaVinci XI robot
Robotic foregut and esophagus
APP driven service – occasional general surgery resident rotations; no subspecialty specific residents or fellows
Compensation Compensation Range: $162,000.00 – $212,000.00/year.
Job Requirements
Current Washington state license PA/NP (or ability to obtain)
1+ years APP cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred
Endoscopic vein harvest highly preferred
Open radial harvest – desired, but willing to train
Robotic thoracic/cardiac surgery – desired, but willing to train
ICU patient management experience – ventilator, drips, etc.
CPR/BLS + ACLS (or ability to obtain) – required
