nThis is an exciting opportunity to join our Systems, Integration, and Test team for the Fall as a Data Scientist Intern to support our rapidly expanding portfolio of autonomous vessels. As HII Unmanned Systems continues to push the boundaries of multi-domain autonomy, one of our primary focuses is the architecture of our data layer. The Data Scientist will apply knowledge about unmanned vessel data types, size, configuration, and packaging to develop and execute the creation of a data lake. This will involve software development to move data into the data lake and porting of analysis tools and test criteria in Matlab or Python into the data lake.
nEssential Job Responsibilities
nInternships are available to help students gain real-world experience in the work force. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. Support the Engineering team with engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, naval, and/or chemical. Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support.
nIn this role you will develop tools to move data, analysis tools, and test processes into a data management tool, including support the testing of unmanned vehicles to validate the process. Assist in the solution of difficult problems involved in areas of assignment. At times, support the development of advanced unmanned vehicle software to help enable the data layer management. The duties described herein cover major duties as required. However, this does not exclude the requirement of performing related duties under normal conditions, and other duties directed by supervision.

High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed.

Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Demonstrated C++ and/or Python development experience.
