Voice and UC Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Voice and UC Engineer. This role is pivotal in providing technical expertise and support to ensure seamless communication solutions within our client’s organization. You will collaborate with various IT teams and managers, focusing on maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our voice and unified communications infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and troubleshoot existing Cisco voice systems, including voicemail and electronic fax solutions.
Support the transition and deployment of Unified Communications platforms globally, ensuring robust design, testing, and configuration.
Monitor and maintain the health of voice and UC infrastructure using advanced network monitoring tools.
Work with external vendors to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.
Conduct security assessments and manage the remediation of vulnerabilities, implementing major upgrades when necessary.
Plan for capacity and ensure contingency and recovery plans are regularly updated and maintained.
Document technical platforms and assist in the design and implementation of new UC systems.
Perform onsite and remote preventative maintenance, including firmware upgrades and system backups.
Configure and optimize Cisco platforms, ensuring efficient routing and security measures against unauthorized access.
Technical Skills Required
Proficiency in VoIP and Telephony systems
Experience with UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, and Zoom
Knowledge of Cloud Technologies, including AWS and Azure
Understanding of voice protocols such as SIP and T1/E1
Strong foundation in network security principles
Experience with WAN, LAN, and infrastructure technologies (TCP/IP, VPN’s, QoS, VoIP, WAN, LAN, SD‑WAN)
Cisco network implementation and troubleshooting expertise
Proficiency in routing and switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, VLAN
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in voice and network administration.
Proven proficiency in network protocols and IP/UC system support.
In‑depth knowledge of SIP, Session Border Controllers, and PSTN SIP trunking.
Cisco IPT accreditation (CCNA/CCNP Collaboration) is preferred.
Strong skills in WAN and LAN network infrastructure support, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
