The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a

Senior Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer

to support the AWE&C team in Oklahoma City, OK.

Position Responsibilities

Serve as a technical lead avionics engineer with expertise in one or more flight deck avionics domains such as autoflight, communications, indication, recording or navigation (systems like FMS, ELT, TACAN, ADIRS, WXR, RNSS, EGPWS, EDFCS, CDS, or FDR/CVR). Provide expert technical guidance and leadership on complex avionics projects within your area(s) of specialization.

Lead and review the work of engineering teams, ensuring technical accuracy, adherence to standards, and alignment with project goals. Provide constructive feedback and technical advice to engineers at various experience levels.

Mentor and develop early‑career engineers by fostering their technical growth and deepening their expertise in avionics communication, navigation, indication, and recording systems.

Act as the primary technical point of contact for the AEW&C platform, representing the organization in high‑level technical discussions, design reviews, and certification decision‑making.

Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support for fielded avionics hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle, guiding engineering teams in resolving complex issues.

Collaborate closely with program managers, customers, and cross‑functional teams to define, review, and validate detailed flight deck avionics system and subsystem requirements, ensuring compliance with DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARINC 429/664, MIL‑STD‑1553, or RTCA/DO‑160 standards, as applicable.

Translate requirements into robust system, subsystem, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications, while reviewing and approving engineering deliverables to maintain high‑quality avionics architectures and standards compliance.

Oversee and coordinate aircraft testing activities, including the performance of avionics functional test and installation and checkout procedures, to verify that system and subsystem designs meet all operational, safety, and certification requirements.

Manage supplier technical performance and integration efforts, reviewing supplier deliverables to ensure compliance with avionics specifications and industry standards.

Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for potential integration into company avionics systems, supporting innovation and next‑generation capabilities.

Require ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (interim and final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start). The role is 100% onsite in Oklahoma City, OK.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.

8 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience in avionics system design, integration, testing, and certification.

Up to 25% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience in flight deck avionics integration, testing, and certification.

In‑depth knowledge of civilian and/or military aircraft certification processes and FAA regulations related to avionics systems.

Experience with DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARINC 429/664, MIL‑STD‑1553, or RTCA/DO‑160.

Master’s degree or higher (e.g., PhD) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution or equivalent technical education specializing in avionics or aerospace systems.

Additional Details

Location: Oklahoma City, OK – 100% onsite.

Travel: up to 25%.

Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; interim and final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start.

Export Control: Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Shift: First shift.

Signing Bonus: Up to $15,000 (based on eligibility).

Pay Range: $127,550 – $172,500.
