THE POSITION The Senior VDC Engineer plays a key role in leading the modeling and coordination of electrical systems for commercial construction projects. This position involves using tools like Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks to produce accurate construction and fabrication drawings, resolve clashes across trades, and support field and prefab teams with precise layout data. The engineer will manage multiple project workloads, maintain coordination schedules, and represent the VDC team in meetings. Additionally, they will mentor junior engineers, improve workflows, and implement new technologies to enhance project delivery. Strong technical expertise, leadership in trade coordination, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead modeling of electrical systems using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks

Identify, track, and resolve clashes across trades using Navisworks

Lead coordination and clash resolution meetings with general contractors, design teams, and MEP trades

Produce construction and fabrication drawings aligned with design intent and field conditions

Conduct quality checks on models and shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards

Support Prefab and Field teams with accurate layout data, spools, and installation drawings

Coordinate and prioritize VDC workloads across multiple active projects with the VDC Manager

Maintain the VDC coordination schedule and track deliverables and responsibilities

Represent the VDC team in project meetings and communicate technical information effectively

Apply and enforce company modeling standards, best practices, and quality-control procedures

Improve workflows, templates, and automation tools to increase team efficiency

Test and implement new technology that enhances project delivery

Train and mentor junior VDC Engineers on modeling techniques and coordination workflows

Support cross-department training to help PMs and field teams leverage VDC outputs

Promote continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and lessons learned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

3–5 years of BIM / VDC experience in commercial construction (electrical or MEP preferred)

Proficient in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks Manage

Strong understanding of construction documents, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawing workflows

Experience leading trade coordination and clash resolution processes

Strong communication, organization, and time management skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Experience creating Revit families and parametric components (preferred)

Familiarity with Dynamo, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and collaboration tools such as BIM 360 or Procore (preferred)

Field or Prefab experience supporting layout, QA / QC, or installation workflows (preferred)

Pay Range : $90K - $120K per Year
