Join as a Senior High Voltage (HV) and/or Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Engineer at
Fleet Data Centers . Fleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega‑scale data center campuses, providing customers with flexibility and predictability to meet their growing demand for cloud and AI infrastructure.
Position Overview As a Senior High Voltage (HV) and/or Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Engineer, you will lead complex power system design and optimization for high/medium voltage substations, transformers, and critical power infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centres. You will oversee development and deployment of electrical infrastructure projects, ensure compliance with industry standards, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimise data centre performance and efficiency. This hands‑on role involves strategic direction, design, and implementation of electrical infrastructure across global regions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and optimisation of high and medium voltage substations, including specification of transformers, switchgear, protective relaying, bus duct systems, controls and grounding schemes.
Drive large‑scale power infrastructure projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction and commissioning.
Provide technical leadership focused on reliability, redundancy, scalability and innovation in design practices.
Implement best practices in fault analysis, load‑flow studies, short‑circuit analysis and relay coordination.
Champion renewable‑energy integration, working closely with providers to incorporate green‑power sources.
Establish and enforce global standards for HV/MV substation design, installation and operation.
Ensure compliance with local, national and international codes (NEC, IEEE, NERC, IEC, UL).
Collaborate with regulatory authorities, utilities and EPC contractors for approvals and interface management.
Coordinate with internal teams (operations, mechanical engineering, control systems, construction management, cloud‑infrastructure architects) to align designs with data‑centre objectives.
Support site‑selection teams with power‑feasibility studies, grid‑availability evaluation and substation‑location identification.
Analyse risks and implement fault‑tolerance strategies (redundancy, fail‑over systems, black‑start capabilities).
Lead root‑cause analysis for power outages and develop improvement plans.
Develop long‑term upgrade and replacement plans.
Lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
15+ years of experience in electrical power systems engineering, with significant high/medium voltage substation design and operations experience.
Expertise with power‑system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, PowerWorld) and CAD tools.
Proven record of leading HV/MV substation design and implementation in mission‑critical facilities.
Strong understanding of electrical protection, power distribution and load management.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) licence or similar certification.
Experience with hyperscale data centres and cloud‑computing environments.
Experience integrating renewable‑energy sources into high‑voltage systems.
