Join Washington University in St. Louis as the Manager of Epic EHR Software Configuration for Beacon/Research/Genomics applications. This role is primarily remote with occasional office visits once a month or as needed.
Scheduled Hours 40 hours per week.
Position Summary Lead the strategic configuration, support, and optimization of Epic Beacon, Research, and Genomics applications within the organization’s electronic health record ecosystem. The Manager ensures seamless integration of oncology workflows, research protocols, and genomic data to support precision medicine and evidence-based care delivery, while overseeing a specialized team of analysts and technical professionals.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the configuration, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Epic Beacon, Research, and Genomics modules, ensuring alignment with clinical and research workflows.
Lead and mentor teams of Epic analysts and IT operational professionals, providing direction, prioritization, staffing oversight, workload management, performance evaluations, and professional development.
Develop and enforce organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for software configuration, design, deployment, testing, and system performance across WashU Medicine and BJC IT.
Partner with oncology, research, pathology, genomics, and other stakeholder groups to translate business, clinical, and scientific requirements into effective Epic and enterprise technology solutions.
Ensure successful integration of genomic data and external laboratory interfaces—including molecular pathology systems and genomic repositories—within Epic and related systems.
Direct project planning and execution, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, quality reviews, and issue escalation, proactively mitigating risks.
Promote a culture of quality by driving the adoption of testing standards, leading test planning, execution, scenario development, and oversight of quality review and change-related risk management.
Champion high-quality user experience by engaging end users in workflow and configuration evaluations, gathering feedback, and iteratively improving system usability.
Serve as application manager for Epic Research and Beacon capabilities, including study builds, research billing compliance, investigational drug workflows, and precision medicine/clinical trial initiatives.
Drive enterprise efforts related to biomedical data interoperability, clinical trial management, and integration across Epic and ancillary platforms.
Collaborate with data governance and analytics teams to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and appropriate use for clinical, research, and operational purposes.
Maintain expert knowledge of the Epic software development lifecycle—including requirements gathering, build, testing, training, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
Ensure adherence to institutional policies, security standards, budgets, and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, FDA, IRB, etc.) to support departmental and organizational goals.
Working Conditions Normal office environment.

Education & Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Nursing, or a related field.
Relevant experience (at least 2 years). A combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum education.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Five years of Epic experience, including at least two years in Beacon, Research, or Genomics modules.
Epic certifications in Beacon Oncology, Research, or Genomics; Epic Certification – Epic Systems.
Certifications/Professional Licenses
No specific certification or professional license is required.
Work Experience
Epic Applications – 5 years.

Salary Range : $84,200.00 – $148,500.00 / Annually (individual rates determined by qualifications, performance, and market factors).
