Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services across New Jersey. UBHC maintains a budget of $260 million and operates 15 sites statewide. Services include inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach, case management, supportive housing, employed prevention, and more.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and evaluate consumer, family, and significant other needs to provide quality care to assigned consumers in an ambulatory Withdrawal Management program.

Develop, discuss, and communicate realistic, individualized plans of care with consumers, families, and significant others to promote wellness and recovery.

Implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the consumer’s safety and well‑being.

Evaluate and reassess identified problems and care provided to ensure overall quality of care delivered.

Maintain concurrent and accurate documentation of nursing care to support multidisciplinary team decision‑making.

Maintain current licensure, certification, and knowledge; pursue professional growth and development.

Qualifications

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Valid New Jersey Registered Nurse License and driver’s license.

Skills: person‑centered nursing care, client rapport, nursing process, effective communication, problem solving, staff direction, and ability to request help.

Strong clinical nursing specialty, excellent communication, PC literacy with proficiency in word processing.

Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a substance abuse treatment program or facility.

Standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, sitting 1/3 of the time.

User of hands to finger, handle, or feel 2/3 of the time; reach with hands and arms 1/3 of the time.

Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.

Manual dexterity and intermittent physical exertion during job activities.

Work Environment

Moderate noise from business office equipment and light traffic.

Subject to unpredictable situations, client crises, both medical and psychiatric.

Occasional exposure to clients with assaultive behaviors.

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring use of personal protective equipment.

May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures.

Salary Range $37,230 – $54,050 per year (subject to qualifications, experience, and funding).
