The Program Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all engineering activities executed under the program. This role provides overall direction to engineering support teams, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that manufacturing programs are delivered on schedule and in alignment with established objectives. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing complex automotive or industrial assembly programs and demonstrates strong leadership, planning, and cross‑functional coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and oversight for engineering activities across the program
The majority of this individual's time will be spent in the Detroit area, with long stretches onsite in Belvidere, IL and Toledo, OH at the plant work site
Direct and coordinate the efforts of engineering support teams, equipment and conveyor suppliers, and internal management stakeholders
Manage and ensure the accuracy and maintenance of plant layouts related to conveyor and assembly activities
Develop, maintain, and update the master timing and execution plan for all assembly‑related activities
Coordinate scheduled activities across plant operations, contractors, suppliers, and engineering teams to maintain program alignment
Prepare and review program documentation including meeting minutes, status reports, schedules, and presentations
Maintain structured storage and control of program documentation within designated data management systems
Support early equipment planning and management activities, including documentation, validation, and installation readiness for new or updated manufacturing equipment
Ensure integration and coordination across all applicable engineering disciplines throughout the program lifecycle
Report program status, risks, and milestones to senior project or portfolio leadership
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting automotive or industrial assembly programs
At least 8 years of experience managing large‑scale manufacturing or assembly projects in a lead or program management role
Minimum of 5 years of advanced experience using MS Project, including integration with Excel‑based schedule updates
Strong capability to work within engineering data management and manufacturing systems (e.g., product lifecycle or equipment databases)
Solid understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and assembly operations
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, manage suppliers, and coordinate complex program schedules
