Base pay range $21.75/hr - $29.00/hr

Responsibilities

Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.

Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

Model customer service best practices and share them with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).

Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.

Operations

Under pharmacist supervision, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information and ensuring information is entered correctly. Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.

Report prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to Company policies and Quality Improvement Program.

Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.

Register all sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers to OTC aisle when possible.

Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.

Process and correct manual claims for third party prescription services timely and efficiently, and perform clerical duties as assigned.

Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples and coordinate clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.

Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.

Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly.

Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.

Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

Basic Qualifications

Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.

Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.

Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.

Prefer good computer skills.

Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.

Prefer PTCB certification.
