Job Summary

At our outpatient Specialty Pharmacy, located at Simmons Cancer Center, 6202 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX 75390, we are seeking a dedicated Clinical Staff Pharmacist. If you're passionate about retail or specialty pharmacy, excited about direct patient interaction and ready to serve with heart and expertise, we invite you to apply.

In this impactful position, you’ll do more than dispense medications — you’ll be a trusted professional of patient safety and wellness. From accurately checking prescriptions and reviewing patient profiles to ensuring optimal drug therapy outcomes, your clinical insight will directly support healing and hope. You’ll also collaborate with medical and nursing teams at the cancer clinics, proactively identifying and resolving therapy concerns, and ensuring every patient receives the safest, most effective treatment.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science degree or PharmD from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy

Experience: 2 years retail experience

Licenses and Certifications: BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) – current BLS certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire. Eligible for licensure by Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required upon hire; Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of date of hire

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: 1 year specialty pharmacy experience

Job Duties

Interpret, clarify and transcribe all medication orders accurately and timely

Document medication order clarifications

Review patient profile to ensure appropriate drug selection and dosage (no drug duplication, interactions or allergies)

Document all relevant interactions with patient and healthcare provider

Document adverse drug reaction appropriately

Provide accurate, adequate and timely drug information to the patient

Demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures

Dispense controlled substances and maintain accurate inventory records as required by appropriate regulatory authorities

Demonstrate ability to function as a team member in performance improvement

Maintains competence required for current job position and demonstrates knowledge in the necessary Reference Categories

Provide drug information/education to patients and their families as required by regulatory authorities

Demonstrate ability to set priorities, work independently and cooperatively with others within and outside the department

Performs all other duties as assigned by appropriate management

Anticipates and responds to the needs of both internal and external clients

Presents information (verbal and/or written) in a clear and concise manner

Displays friendliness, compassion, sensitivity, kindness and appropriate manners in interactions with patients, physicians and other ancillary healthcare staff

Displays open‑mindedness and objectivity in relations with patients, physicians, and other ancillary healthcare staff

Promotes a spirit of unity which enables the group to work together to achieve a common goal

Takes initiative to perform job and/or assist co‑workers, supporting the work of others in accomplishing the mission of the Company
