Clinical Coordination & Patient Flow
Monitor and adjust patient assignments based on acuity, staffing, and patient needs in PACU, Hold, and Prep areas.
Serve as the point of contact for resolving immediate clinical and operational issues during the shift.
Coordinate with CMAC, OR Charge Nurse, Anesthesia, and Surgical Services to anticipate and manage bed needs and patient transitions.
Ensure timely preparation and readiness of pre-op patients, facilitating smooth transitions to the operating room.
Oversee PACU recovery progress to meet discharge or Phase II transfer criteria.
Effectively utilizes available resources during the shift to support safe, high-quality patient care.
Provide limited clinical coverage (e.g., breaks, urgent patient care needs) as required.
Staff Support & Guidance
Provide clinical expertise and mentorship to nursing staff, assisting with complex patient care needs.
Support onboarding of new staff through real-time teaching and role modeling
Advance/Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, safety protocols, and infection prevention standards.
Identify real-time staff learning needs and collaborate with the Clinical Manager and other education leaders to support ongoing professional development.
Provide observational feedback to the Clinical Manager regarding staff performance and professional development needs, based on real-time shift observations.
Support staff in adopting new concepts and technology into nursing practice, providing real-time guidance and identifying workflow issues to leadership for resolution.
Promote teamwork, effective communication, and a positive work environment.
Quality & Safety
Monitor for patient safety concerns, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating as needed.
Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities to evaluate the effectiveness of care delivered, providing real-time feedback and supporting best practices.
Support unit quality initiatives, collecting and communicating observations to leadership.
Participate in real-time problem solving for equipment or supply issues.
Assist in the execution of clinical, payroll, operational, and quality audits under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and perioperative best practices.
Collaboration & Communication
Act as a liaison between staff nurses, anesthesia, surgery, inpatient floors, and other departments to facilitate patient care and throughput.
Communicate patient flow updates, changes in status, and operational concerns to the Clinical Manager.
Provide feedback to leadership regarding operational challenges and suggestions for improvement.
Provide input to the Clinical Manager regarding resource needs and operational considerations to support budget planning.
Performs other related duties as required.
Pay Range: $81,889.60-$163,779.20
