Medical Front Desk – Michigan Spine and Brain Surgeons – Southfield
Shift: Day position 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, no weekends. Contingent staffing.
Works in a customer service capacity providing administrative and clerical support to patients and customers in a medical setting.
Responsibilities
Greets patients and visitors, checks patients in and out, obtains necessary documentation, verifies and enters demographic information.
Obtains and verifies insurance authorizations/precertification, completes medical record release requests, schedules and confirms patient appointments.
Enters, reviews and submits charges for patient procedures and services daily, collects co‑payments and reconciles all daily reports and deposits for accuracy.
Provides general office and clerical support to assigned area.
Education and Experience
High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job‑specific experience required.
Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
Ability to verify patient insurance coverage and demographics, prepare patient rooms, provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
Familiarity with medical office workflows preferred.
Ability to function collaboratively in a team setting.
Strong attention to detail; excellent customer service and ability to listen/speak effectively to patients. Previous experience in high volume medical or surgical practice is preferred.
