Purpose We are seeking an NDT Inspector II to support the Quality Assurance Department located in National City, CA.
Job Description
The Level II NDT Tech will ensure compliance with customer and government contractual requirements related to NDT. Responsibilities include preparing, maintaining, and reviewing procurement and contractual documents, interfacing with customer representatives on quality/technical issues, and evaluating, recording, and maintaining quality metrics.
Conduct shipboard surveillance of structural, piping, ventilation, electrical installations, and generate Quality Assurance reports.
Analyze quality data using statistical methods to drive process and design improvements.
Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all NDT activities meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent in vocational and US military schools.
ASNT NDT Certification with a nondestructive testing background.
5–10 years of experience as an NDT QA Inspector.
Certifications: PLC, WAF, VT II, PT II.
Experience in supporting mechanical and structural/piping/electrical repairs and upgrades on US Navy ships.
Hands‑on experience with shipboard electrical/structural installations, including cable, connectors, and structural modifications; ability to read Ship Installation Drawings.
Familiarity with JFMM, 9090‑310, NAVSEA Standard Items, NAVSSES 4790.2 Series Installation documentation, WAF/TUMS.
Understanding of shipboard/shipyard environment.
Experience with PLCs, fiber optics, and integrated network systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience evaluating subcontractors and vendors for quality assurance compliance.
Ability to write and interpret procedures and standards.
Desired Qualifications
Experience leading small installation teams.
Security Requirements
Eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance for access to military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and naval installations.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel – less than 10%.
Domestic flight travel or access to secure federal facilities may be required; candidates must obtain and maintain appropriate credentials (e.g., REAL ID).
Physical Requirements
Perform physical inspections and script procedures/standards for Quality Control.
Remain stationary, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Move between work sites as required.
Carry items up to 20 pounds.
