Base Pay Range $62,600.00/yr – $85,000.00/yr
The
Senior Buyer/Planner
will be responsible for managing the on‑time delivery of material procurement and outside processing service to meet the forecast, customers’ order demand, and MRO requirements for the Vlier business unit. Driving competitive commodity and category supply strategies to achieve the lowest total cost, reducing working capital via negotiation planning and execution, and establishing high‑growth region sourcing. Optimizing on‑hand inventory and maintaining favorable Purchasing Variances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company safety procedures. Contribute to a Safety‑First Culture by identifying risky situations.
Initiate supplier PO contracts from approved requisitions (Blanket and Discrete Orders).
Submit RFQs to suppliers as required and implement strategic pricing opportunities initiated by Sourcing Mgr.
Convey all critical conformance requirements submitted by the Supplier Quality Engineer to suppliers with each PO.
Administer PO changes related to MRP reschedule messages and ECO disposition actions.
Negotiate supplier discrete order promise dates, root cause late deliveries, and initiate supplier corrective actions.
Work with Planning to establish release quantities and planning settings for purchased material.
Plan and coordinate the timing, quantity, and on‑time delivery of components with suppliers to meet inventory goals.
Perform audits on supplier partners and assure their processes are qualified and in control.
Liaise between the supplier base and organization when sourcing components.
Maintain the suppliers’ scorecard.
Provide reporting for management (PPV, Supplier OTD, etc.).
Generate, analyze, and report key inventory metrics to maintain and exceed company goals.
Source new suppliers and set up new relationships.
Ensure the system has up‑to‑date pricing, lead time, MOQ, etc.
Monitor and expedite OSP procurement.
Analyze the cost of supplied components to identify areas of improvement.
Order operating supplies as required.
Develop ideas and strategies to improve efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards strategic improvements.
Provide planning backup as needed.
Perform other purchasing/planning tasks assigned by the manager.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or Business is strongly desired along with 5–7 years of supply‑chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
Communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization and with people from outside the organization.
Work efficiently in both focused environments and process multiple tasks simultaneously.
Have knowledge of manufacturing processes, costs, and components in a global manufacturing/engineering company.
Work both in team environments and autonomously.
Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel and ERP systems.
Work to a set schedule.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or Business with 5–7 years of supply‑chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
Effective communication with employees at all organizational levels and external stakeholders.
Ability to work focused and multitask simultaneously.
Knowledge of global manufacturing processes, costs, and components.
Teamplayer capable of working autonomously.
Proficient in advanced Excel and ERP systems.
Ability to adhere to a set schedule.
