Directional Bore Operator - Traveling
Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)
Primary Location: Columbus, OH, and various locations in Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.

Job Summary
The Directional Bore Operator will operate directional drilling equipment to create underground holes, pull conduit, and complete all required tasks from start to finish on outside plant projects, including digging, boring, pulling, splicing, and backfilling.
Job Responsibilities
Set up drilling equipment, water tanks, and grounding.
Operate directional drill and various construction equipment.
Confirm bore path with locator or lead.
Drill predetermined path to exit point.
Communicate with locator to confirm drill head location.
Assist in potholing, hand‑hole setting, and tie‑in completion.
Assist with installing pulling gear and hooking up products.
Conduct post‑job quality checks.
Operate or drive construction equipment when licensed.
Maintain, clean, and inspect vehicles and equipment.
Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and paperwork.
Comply with safety procedures at all times.
Perform other general duties as directed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
General
Compliance with the Operator's Manual for equipment.
Understanding of quality/safety policies.
Valid CDL Class A with satisfactory driving record.
Self‑motivated, safety‑focused, quality‑driven.
Team player with strong communication skills.
Time‑management ability.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the region.
High school diploma or equivalent; minimum age 18.
Must pass pre‑employment drug test and background screening.
Technical
At least 1 year of directional drilling experience.
Ability to drill predetermined paths, pothole, and assist with hand‑holes.
Experience completing tie‑ins and pulling gear.
Strong knowledge of underground utilities and telecommunications construction practices.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification.
OSHA 30 certification.
