Responsibilities:
Perform skilled and semi‑skilled level work in one or more related trades, as required by the maintenance program.
Plan and lay out construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, New York, offering a comfortable work environment, complete with free parking. This is a permanent, non‑competitive, CSEA‑represented position offering full‑time hours, 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
Salary:
The Trades Generalist position is in the CSEA Salary Grade (SG) 12. The starting salary of the CSEA SG-12 is $50,425 per year. Employees may be eligible for performance advances that can increase the salary to $61,548 per year.
Benefits:
This permanent, CSEA‑represented position offers excellent benefits, including inexpensive health insurance options, free dental and vision coverage, NYS Pension Plan membership, and generous paid time off. Within the first year, you are eligible for 5 days of personal time, 13 vacation days, 13 sick days, and 13 paid holidays. As a New York State employee, you could potentially qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).
Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of full‑time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson, providing training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
If required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
