Production Operator – Evendale Bakery
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Position: Non‑exempt, Full Time
The Production Operator is responsible for following set standards and practices to produce a quality baked White Castle bun. Duties include machine operation, quality assurance, safety, GMPs, and forklift operation.
Responsibilities
Operate mixer to produce consistent dough.
Set ingredients meters, scales, and timers for proper ingredient amounts and dough temperatures.
Operate extruder to produce dough pieces for the bun.
Set belt timing, adjust dusting flour, and maintain flour in sifters.
Check, record, and adjust dough ball weights as needed.
Final checker to ensure there is no excessive flour in pans and dough balls are properly panned.
Keep equipment and work area clean while working safely.
Operate packaging machine to bag and box all good quality baked product for palletizing and shipment.
Palletize and operate forklift to store packaged products for shipment.
Utilize the WMS scanning system to get license plate stickers ready for the right skids.
Prepare skids, scan license plate stickers on wrapped skids before placing in freezer following the rotation system.
Log buns stored with time, date, and operator’s initials.
Assist packaging machine operator with changing bags and racking off product as needed.
Carton stripping to sort through bad corrugated cartons for re‑use in the box former.
Perform housekeeping duties as needed. Rotation of jobs daily is required.
Follow all company safety rules, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCPs, and any other procedures or regulations.
Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures; adhere to plant security and safety policies.
Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
Be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous training and experience in the baking industry preferred.
Knowledge of equipment operation; ability to function efficiently in any production line position.
Good interpersonal and human relations skills with a positive professional demeanor.
Knowledge, training, and experience with production, sanitation, quality, and safety.
Good verbal and written skills, team oriented, able to give and receive direction, and follow clear and detailed instructions.
Efficiently work and respond in a fast‑paced environment to meet operational demands.
Ability to diagnose production problems.
Good understanding of HACCP, SSOP, GMPs, and FDA regulations.
Ability to complete on‑the‑job training.
Physical Requirements / Environmental Factors
Ability to bend, turn, twist, climb, stoop, and stand.
Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. assisted.
Work in an environment with flour dust, extreme cold, wet, hot, or dusty conditions.
Wear safety gear including safety glasses and other types supplied by the company.
Frequent periods of standing and walking.
Ability to hear, comprehend, and respond professionally to co‑worker inquiries.
