About the Department The mission of Public Transportation is to provide safe, efficient, and customer friendly transit services to citizens and guests of the community. The City of Huntsville operates 19 AC vans that are radio dispatched and ADA accessible.
Position Overview This skilled position involves operating a medium duty shuttle bus on a fixed route. Responsibilities include driving the bus safely, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor, conducting daily vehicle inspections, collecting fares, providing information, and performing basic record-keeping duties.
Qualifications and Required Experience • High school diploma from an accredited school or GED certificate, plus considerable experience driving light duty buses on fixed routes, or a combination of education, training, and experience. • Valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B (minimum), with Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsements upon hire.
