Position Summary Join our exciting & dedicated team at Vallen as a Forklift Operator. In this position, you will operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and assist in receiving, handling, stocking, and moving goods in a warehouse or distribution center. You will also follow established procedures and guidelines, operating the forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Safely operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, cherry-picking lifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery) to complete tasks.
Complete equipment logs and daily forklift inspection forms before and after each shift.
Maintain company forklifts by lubricating moving parts, ensuring gauges function, and keeping equipment charged or fueled.
Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles, unpack bales, crates, and other containers, and check for damage or discrepancies.
Load trucks for customer delivery, install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage, and check for discrepancies between goods and shipping work orders.
Process and load orders, reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, and requisitions to determine items to move.
Prepare, pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests, using pick sheets and verifying product and quantity accuracy.
Weigh or count items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
Assist in inventory level maintenance and inventory counts.
Follow warehouse safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ months relevant experience and/or training.
Valid certification to operate forklifts, or the ability to obtain certification within the specified time period.
Experience loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse environment (forklift/cherry picker experience preferred).
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Basic computer proficiency, with familiarity in MS Office and warehouse systems (Vista, Control, SX.e, Prophet 21).
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
Team player who is self‑motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
Attention to detail and safety‑mindedness.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Must operate various warehouse machinery.
Requires hand, arm, foot, and leg dexterity.
Must lift up to 75 lbs. (or greater with assistance) following safety procedures.
Regularly stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
Requires good vision (distance, color, peripheral, depth) and focus adjustment.
Must work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Must work in dusty conditions.
May handle hazardous materials and wear protective equipment.
Must pass forklift and/or other equipment certifications.
Assigned shifts may vary and/or rotate, including overtime and extended work hours with little notice.
Target Pay Range $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
