Maintenance Technician – Third or Weekend Shift Base pay range: $30.00/hr - $30.00/hr

The Maintenance II Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance and repairs on machinery to ensure optimal operation.

This role includes troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing equipment as needed to enhance production efficiency, product quality, and overall performance of production lines and machinery.

Job Responsibilities

Ensure the proper functioning and operation of all manufacturing machinery and related equipment, taking proactive measures to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Inspect compressors to ensure efficient operation.

Make repair or adjustments to equipment or building as necessary to maintain production, including troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, new equipment installations, preventative maintenance, relocation, or safety related changes.

Adjust all equipment to a level whereby maximum accuracy and efficiency is achieved without compromising safety.

Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Conduct routine inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure proper functioning and safety.

Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.

Check the pass downs given from the previous shift.

Responsible for cleaning maintenance shop after completing any projects.

Must understand VFDs – diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing.

Ability to understand PLCs – diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing.

Assist or provide training to entry level technicians when necessary.

Complete all necessary training as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.

Additional duties as assigned.

Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

Regularly/occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Regularly/occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.

Qualifications

Two-year Technical Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience suitable for the job.

Minimum 1 year’s experience within distribution or manufacturing industrial or commercial environment.

Minimum 2 years’ maintenance experience in a cGMP-regulated environment preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA safety requirements as related to industrial operations.

Knowledge and understanding of process support equipment and machinery.

Working knowledge of mechanical functions and systems (e.g., change oil, gears, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).

Intermediate skills in installation, modification, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.

Working knowledge of electrical functions and systems (e.g., fuses and power checks).

Ability to set up drives, read schematics and blueprint.

Ability to safely perform basic machining operations.

Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., meters, micrometers, calipers, etc.).

Advanced proficiency in installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining process and support equipment and/or machinery within the facility (i.e., hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, HVAC).

Intermediate fabrication skills, e.g., ability to modify tooling/guards, utilize lathes/mills to construct parts.

Intermediate HVAC skills, e.g., belt and filter changes, ability to read gauges.

Knowledgeable of FDA/cGMP regulated environment requirements and documentation practices.

Knowledge of MAPICS MRP system.

High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.

Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem‑solving, presentation, budgeting, project‑management, and planning skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).

Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients.

Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast‑paced and deadline‑oriented environment.

Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.

Self‑motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools and forklifts.

Availability after‑hours to perform emergency repairs and maintenance as needed to minimize production disruptions.

Ability to work overtime and holidays as necessary.
