Responsibilities
Proficiently operate three or more types of heavy equipment such as backhoe, trackhoe, scraper, dozer, excavator, loader, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and/or motor graders with or without GPS to prepare the job site to meet required grades.
Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power‑takeoff shaft to tractor.
Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
Operate hydraulic shovel to dig trenches and holes, remove material, and transport to trucks.
Control equipment to maneuver and adjust attachments to clear right‑of‑way.
Use steering and levers to estimate depth of cut and maintain proper grade.
Drive bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to achieve specified grade.
Construct/grade new roadways, base courses, building pads, footing excavation, and water ponds with proper slope and grade.
Load, move, level and grade dirt, rocks, demolition concrete, and other materials efficiently in a high‑paced environment to meet production goals.
Maintain initiative to keep work flowing under minimal supervision.
Demolish bridges and other structures with excavators and hydraulic hoe rams.
Operate equipment within a Pipe Crew environment such as excavator or loader.
Perform general housekeeping, light maintenance, and conduct equipment checks, reporting usage/utilization hours daily.
Work with GPS‑installed devices on dozers and motor graders.
Follow and promote all safety standards of Ralph L. Wadsworth and its projects.
Work weekends, holidays, and/or overtime as project needs require.
Perform laborer work as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of heavy equipment operating experience with multiple types of equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Willingness to perform laborer work.
Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing, lifting (up to 75 lbs), twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, and working in hazardous sites.
Excellent eye‑to‑hand coordination and depth perception.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends and nights.
