Overview The Jewish Community Campus, located in Overland Park, is a 250,000 square foot building on 25-acre grounds. The campus houses nine Jewish agencies, including the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, along with a preschool, K‑12 private school, 500‑seat theater, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool, commercial kitchens, private offices, and public meeting spaces. The Maintenance + Grounds Technician will perform light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and interior maintenance tasks, as well as exterior cleaning and grounds upkeep.
Schedule Full‑time: Sunday 10:00 – 18:30 and Monday‑Thursday 9:00 – 17:30
Essential Functions
Outdoor grounds maintenance (trash pickup, landscaping, snow removal, salt application, sweeping grounds, parking lots, walks, and curbs).
Light plumbing maintenance (unclogging, repairing, replacing parts for sinks, showers, toilets, urinals).
Lighting and electrical maintenance (changing ballasts, bulbs, outlets).
Carpentry, drywall, mudding, painting, and wallpapering.
Install and maintain drop‑ceiling tiles.
Assist with room set‑ups and teardowns, tables and chairs, and general clean‑up.
Clean and maintain equipment in commercial kitchens.
Interior trash pickup or other cleaning as needed.
Assist the Building Engineer as required.
Other duties assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of three years of commercial building maintenance experience, including proficiency in light plumbing, lighting, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and cleaning. Pool maintenance experience is a plus.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry up to 90 feet.
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
Clear written and verbal communication skills to read and follow written and oral instructions.
Proficiency with common workplace technology such as email, internet, and software.
Flexible schedule and willingness to work overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
Extensive walking, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 50 pounds.
Good manual dexterity to use hand/power tools and diagnose/make repairs.
Good visual acuity suitable for satisfactory finishes such as paint, wallpaper, or carpentry projects.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, snow, and ice.
