Maintenance Assistant Technician Trainee
UChicago Medicine – Ingalls Memorial Hospital
is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Assistant Technician Trainee to join our Harvey location. The position is 100% onsite and requires residency in the greater Chicagoland area.
Pay Range Base pay: $19.00/hr – $21.00/hr (subject to experience and qualifications).
Job Description As a Maintenance Assistant Technician Trainee, you will be responsible for performing a variety of repairs and preventive maintenance tasks, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work throughout the campus, in accordance with the current CBA.
Essential Job Functions
Perform various repairs, maintenance & preventive maintenance, urgent corrective and routine repairs across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry disciplines.
Reflect the mission, vision, and values of UChicago Medicine while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Comply with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Minimum of 3 years related maintenance experience (desired).
Proficient knowledge in plumbing, mechanical, minor electrical, and building operations.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ask clarifying questions, compose routine reports, and respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co‑workers, or supervisors.
Intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of current TJC and IDPH regulations.
General knowledge of Building Automation, Fire Alarm, Tube System, and Elevator Computer systems.
Physical demand: ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds, stand and walk during the workday, pull and push up to, and in excess of 150 pounds of force, climb, bend, stoop, work from ladders and scaffolds, and work in inclement weather. Failure to meet these requirements poses a significant threat to operations.
