Summary:
The Security Dispatcher maintains operational control of communications for the DMC Police Authority. Responsibilities include operating technology equipment, monitoring life‑safety systems, processing and dispatching emergency and non‑emergency calls, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor life‑safety system alarms (fire panel, CCTV, infant‑abduction, access control, etc.)
Maintain knowledge of the hospital and campus layout
Receive, record, and prioritize emergency and non‑emergency calls
Dispatch Police Authority officers via radio, phone, or computer
Coordinate with police, fire, and other emergency response teams
Understand 911 notification procedures
Report unusual activity to security staff
Track inquiries and logs electronically or manually
Deliver exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors, and physicians
Stay current with security orders and regulatory requirements
Hold Emergency Management credentials (FEMA 300, 400, 700)
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED required, or equivalent education/experience
Skills Required
Effective written and oral communication, including proper grammar and report writing
Interpersonal skills to work with all personnel and the public professionally
Ability to handle common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently
Independent judgement and critical‑thinking skills
Active listening skills
Ability to prepare written reports and provide quality customer service
Meet physical requirements; may require an annual physical
Work while wearing personal protective equipment as required
Job Type and Shift Part Time – Evening, 2:15 PM to 10:45 PM
