Summary At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee‑owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we are seeking a dedicated Chemical Control Systems Operator. Reporting to the Unit Manager, this role will be responsible for overseeing the processing of materials and the production of goods within an industrial setting. The operator will also monitor equipment, manage hazardous materials, and ensure the smooth operation of production processes.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
Operate and monitor equipment such as reactors, pumps, coolers, and vacuum systems to maintain proper conditions (pressure, temperature, flow). Respond to changes in production processes to ensure consistent output.
Follow established procedures to produce products efficiently and safely. Calculate batch sizes and record manufacturing data.
Load and unload materials from trucks, including tank trucks and tank cars. Transport materials to designated areas within the facility.
Ensure the proper operation of safety systems and valves and perform required inspections.
Complete all necessary production and transfer forms accurately.
Other duties may be assigned.
Job duties may also result in hazardous waste handling, including
Generating, handling, and inspecting hazardous waste and storage.
Responding to or managing hazardous waste spills and incidents per the site’s emergency action plan.
Preparing and managing hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination, and other reports.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1-3 years of relevant experience or training.
Forklift certification preferred.
And/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Required Skills We Are Looking For
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or video presentation.
Problem‑solving skills in standardized situations.
Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Physical Capabilities & Requirements
Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects or tools, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment
Frequent work near moving mechanical parts.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasional work in high, precarious places.
Regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and explosives.
Noise level is moderate to loud.
