Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate with production to obtain samples of finished goods to complete the required testing for the material. At times will have to seek and collect samples from production floor.

Responsible for sample traceability to ensure applicable tests are completed in full.

Responsible for testing physical properties of materials such as: cure, percentage of ash, percentage of moisture, viscosity, density, etc. to verify conformity to internal specifications.

Run and monitor multiple materials testing simultaneously.

Responsible for recognizing out of spec test data and following hold protocol if batches do not meet quality standards upon retesting.

Escalate all out of spec materials to plant supervision, plant management, or quality team immediately to prevent out of spec products from leaving the facility. Hold stickers must be applied at first failed test result.

Calibrate & operate all laboratory equipment including but not limited to: MDR, Mooney Viscometer, LECO elemental analyzers, balances, digital scales, ovens, furnaces, 2‑Roll mill, FTIR, etc.

Record all test results on coordinating Excel matrices.

Responsible for general housekeeping of laboratory including cleaning of equipment & ensuring all work surfaces remain clean.

Maintain an accurate inventory of production retains on all finished products.

Essential Qualifications And Skills

1‑3 years of experience within a laboratory.

Ability to follow established Quality Control Work Instructions.

Ability to communicate effectively with other lab & production personnel.

Knowledge of calibration processes and procedures.

Ability to work independently and proactively within a complex environment.

Ability to routinely work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Understanding and knowledge of lab equipment and procedures.

Ability to utilize and interpret data via Excel.

Demonstrated ability to apply corrective action and apply feedback to performance.

Basic understanding of standard math equations.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related science field.

1‑3 years of experience working for a chemical manufacturing company or rubber compounder.

Work Environment Office positions are typically in temperature-controlled environments, however, may have to visit the plant floor during the course of employment. Employees in the manufacturing department are typically on the shop floor most of their day and may be exposed to varied temperatures, humidity, dust, noise, vapors, and fumes. All employees are required to wear designated personal protective equipment while on the shop floor. Various operations in the plant generate noise, dust, vapor and fumes in the normal course of production. The Company has been and is committed to eliminate these conditions to the extent possible through the application of design engineering. The Company also provides a variety of safety equipment to keep all associates safe and within OSHA standards. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
