Building Maintenance Worker

Overview The Building Maintenance Worker will perform unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance and repair work associated with buildings, equipment, grounds, and ceremonial facilities.
Responsibilities
Perform semi‑skilled manual work: building maintenance, minor carpentry, painting, mechanical, plumbing, heating and AC, grounds maintenance, custodial projects.
Routine electrical maintenance: preserve and repair lighting fixtures, switches, replace motors, switches, motion sensors, timers, photocells, fuses, thermostats, bulbs, ballasts.
Routine plumbing maintenance: install/repair fixtures and components, clear drains, fix leaks, replace faucets, traps, disposals.
HVAC maintenance: clean/replacement filters, replace parts.
General construction tasks: remove, repair, replace floor/ceiling tile, doors, hardware, windows, glass panes; assemble furniture.
Support other departments: erect signs and flags, set up rooms for meetings/events, move equipment and heavy materials, load/unload items.
Follow safety procedures, use equipment, monitor environment, place safety cones, signs, lock chemicals.
Perform other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and materials for building maintenance and construction.
Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Awareness of Yaqui culture, customs and traditions; willingness to learn.
Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC maintenance techniques.
Careful chemical handling.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Operate powered equipment.
Lift or move objects up to 75 lbs.
Work outdoors in varying weather.
Operate office equipment, computer and related software.
Communicate effectively with co‑workers, supervisors, Council members, and public.
Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED and at least six (6) months experience in general building maintenance. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred; Yaqui language an asset but not required.
Special Requirements
Work non‑traditional hours, nights, and weekends.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or obtain it within 90 days of hire; failure to maintain results in termination.
