Job Summary:

The Missouri Judiciary is recruiting a Senior Court Clerk to perform highly responsible advanced work using an electronic filing system in a Missouri State Court. The role involves court case processing, customer service, financial record‑keeping, and support for judges and court staff with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities Perform technical clerical work in the Courtroom Services Department – Division 3. Responsibilities include supporting the judge, serving in the courtroom, preparing the judge’s docket, noting continuances, administering oaths, entering case data into the automated case management system, contacting attorneys to resolve discrepancies, preparing orders and correspondence, preparing statistical reports, operating electronic recording equipment, answering inquiries by telephone or in person, and performing other duties as assigned.

Perform case processing in receiving and initiating case files; review judgments, prepare warrants, summonses, garnishments, and executions, bond settings, and docket control.

Review legal documents for required filing information; determine required processing and take necessary action in accordance with court rules.

Perform accounting duties in receiving and disbursing monies, reconcile financial accounts, and prepare daily and monthly financial reports.

Provide information and customer assistance in person, by telephone, email or other mediums (without providing legal advice) to pro‑se litigants, attorneys, reporters, law enforcement, other judicial agencies, co‑workers, supervisors, and judges.

Prepare a variety of documents related to court operations including court orders, calendars, notices of hearings, court appearances, and reports; coordinate the flow of documents necessary for court assignments; and properly queue electronically filed proceedings for processing.

Employee Exposure Employees may be exposed to disturbing evidence and testimony, including photographs, violent scenes, victims, and sexually explicit material; to syringes, drugs, weapons and blood; to verbally or physically abusive public; to allergens such as perfumes and dust; and to unpleasant odors such as unwashed clothing or chemicals offered as evidence.

Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning and two years of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties. Additional experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws and legal factors pertaining to the court.

Advanced knowledge of organization operations, functions and scope of authority of the court.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while handling a high‑volume workload in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and high stress.

Ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with general policy and objectives.

Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from an automated system.
