Purpose of the Job
To maintain and uphold the City of Friendswood’s parks, buildings, grounds, and structures. Responsibilities
Assist in constructing and maintaining park facilities and city buildings. Perform routine grounds maintenance including watering, fertilizing, cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, planting plants, filling in holes, and picking up litter and debris. Drive trucks, tractors, mowers, and other vehicles to perform maintenance duties. Operate weed eaters, edgers, power saws, and other equipment. Service and clean vehicles and equipment. Perform routine facility maintenance including plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting, electrical work, air conditioning repair, and irrigation repair and installation. Digs and fills holes and ditches. Assist with setting up the annual Fourth of July, Santa in the Park, Holiday Hustle Fun Run, and other departmental sponsored events. Operate the mosquito spraying truck to fumigate the City. Perform other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability as assigned. Skills and Knowledge
Basic knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of hand tools, testing instruments, and small power tools. Basic knowledge of the operation of a tractor, generator, and mosquito sprayer. Advanced knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, irrigation, electrical work, and basic HVAC knowledge. Minimum Requirements
Two years’ experience. High School diploma or G.E.D. Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record. This job may require 24 hour availability in an emergency situation.
