Shift & Hours This is a 2nd Shift Position - Hours are 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Job Summary This position is responsible for a variety of Material Handling tasks, including but not limited to picking, staging and kitting of purchased and manufactured parts to support assembly and shipping operations, forklift operations, shipping and receiving operations, cycle counts of inventory, etc. The position requires the highest level of accuracy due to customer expectations and the critical importance of inventory accuracy. The role requires a forklift certification and handling/sorting of parts into racks, carts or containers throughout the day.
Job Functions
Operate forklifts to move materials within the facility, unloading, loading, put-away, transporting to packing line and staging areas, and meeting productivity targets.
Interact with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and accurately track all material movements.
Communicate with purchasing, manufacturing and project managers regarding material and order status.
Generate picking Bill of Materials as necessary.
Coordinate shipping/receiving schedules.
Handle and sort parts into pallet racks, staging carts or containers while meeting productivity expectations.
Maintain a clean and safe work area utilizing the principles of 6S.
Identify missing parts or incomplete orders, shipments or kits and escalate as necessary to ensure ship dates are not missed.
Ensure inventory accuracy by owning and continuously improving the inventory and staging/kitting system.
Understand project requirements and components of our various assemblies.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma
Ability to pass Bastian Powered Industrial Vehicle test
Strong mechanical aptitude
Positive attitude, able to handle tense situations
Team player, able to give and receive feedback
Ability to operate heavy‑duty equipment safely
Solid Microsoft Excel skills
Experience operating industrial equipment (fork truck, walkie, pallet jack, etc.)
Familiarity with ERP or WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, D365)
Experience with inventory management
Ability to read engineering prints
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Level I Material Handler will be able to perform at least MH functions (staging, receiving, shipping)
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, and/or vending for prolonged periods.
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position, requiring substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; receiving detailed information through oral communication; distinguishing sounds.
