POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The Buyer II is a mid‑level purchasing professional responsible for independently managing the procurement of materials for assigned categories or projects. This role requires strong commercial judgment, the ability to interpret technical and operational requirements, and the capability to work with minimal supervision. The Buyer II ensures timely, cost‑effective, and compliant purchasing activities while supporting operational continuity and supplier performance.
The Buyer II serves as a key liaison between suppliers, project teams, operations, and warehouse personnel. The role contributes to cost savings, process improvements, and supplier relationship management by analyzing quotes, monitoring inventory needs, and resolving moderately complex procurement issues. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate ERP documentation, maintaining material availability, supporting the overall effectiveness of the purchasing function, and process optimization across Moss’ electrical procurement function.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day‑to‑day purchasing activities for assigned materials or categories, including creating POs, securing confirmations, and ensuring on‑time delivery
Conduct pricing and terms negotiations for recurring, commodity, and project‑based purchases to ensure value, reliability, and cost control
Review purchase requirements for accuracy, specifications, and lead‑time feasibility; analyze supplier quotes and recommend the best purchasing decisions
Maintain close communication with project teams, operations, and warehouse staff to ensure material availability and alignment with project schedules
Monitor inventory levels for assigned materials and ensure sufficient stock to support project schedules and operational needs
Monitor supplier performance using key metrics (on‑time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and support issue resolution and corrective action efforts
Resolve escalated delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies in coordination with suppliers and internal teams
Ensure ERP data accuracy, purchasing compliance, and proper documentation of pricing, terms, and supplier communications
Support cost‑reduction, process improvement, and spend visibility initiatives across the purchasing function
Assist Purchasing Manager and Sourcing Team with category strategy input, market analysis, and supplier intelligence
Mentor and support junior team members (Buyer I) by providing guidance on purchasing processes and supplier interaction
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred. 3‑5 years of procurement or purchasing experience within construction, manufacturing, or energy sectors
Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and procurement workflows independently
Strong analytical, negotiation, and ERP data management skills
Experience with solar utility scale or electrical commodities preferred
