The Program Operations Unit (POU) within the Financial Operations & Analysis Section (FOA) of the CDPH Radiologic Health Branch (RHB) handles all purchasing, contracts, personnel, and facilities management for the RHB.
RHB is located in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex across from the beautiful State Capitol Park and World Peace Rose Garden.
The California State service offers medical, dental, and vision benefits; a state pension, and the opportunity to also participate in the state’s 401K/457 program.

Job Description And Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by directly supervising staff responsible for maintaining the Radiologic Health Branch (RHB) budget, contracts, personnel liaison, facilities operations, attendance, and the procurement of equipment and supplies. The Supervisor I is an active member of RHB’s leadership team and participates in all meetings related to Branch operations.
The Supervisor I is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Program Operations Unit (POU). Ensures the unit delivers excellent customer service, handles all inquiries, requests, and problems professionally and timely, and oversees the development and maintenance of RHB’s special fund, annual and monthly budget estimates, and state and federal contracts. Additionally, the Supervisor I directs staff in procuring equipment and office supplies, tracks contract expiration dates, and manages personnel actions, recruitment, and hiring of staff.
The incumbent proactively monitors workflow, personnel, and work products, and ensures continuous staff training and development.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Supervisor II, Chief.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience supervising, motivating, and leading a team to success.
Strong communication Skills – Have both orally and written ability to present information and express ideas in a clear, confident, and convincing manner, and to receive, attend to, interpret, and respond in ways that are appropriate to listeners and situations.
Knowledge and experience of budget development and the State Budget Cycle
Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines within challenging time constraints
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software

Telework Information This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
