Position Summary The

Network Engineer

is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of client and internal network infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of LAN, WAN, wireless, and firewall systems while supporting both project delivery and ongoing operations.

Core Responsibilities Network Design & Deployment

Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and firewall solutions across client environments.

Support site‑to‑site, client‑to‑cloud, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, SD‑WAN, IPsec, WireGuard).

Configure routing, switching, VLANs, trunking, and network segmentation.

Troubleshoot complex network issues involving latency, packet loss, MTU, asymmetric routing, and firewall policies.

Server & Virtualization Infrastructure

Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux server environments.

Administer virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, XCP‑ng, or equivalent).

Manage VM lifecycle: provisioning, migrations, snapshots, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Support shared and local storage platforms (SAN, NAS, NFS, iSCSI).

Assist with backup, replication, and disaster recovery testing.

Cloud & Identity Services

Support Microsoft 365 and Azure (or equivalent cloud platforms).

Assist with hybrid identity integrations (Active Directory, Azure AD / Entra ID).

Manage DNS, DHCP, certificates, and directory‑dependent services.

Support cloud‑based infrastructure components such as VPN gateways, virtual networks, and security policies.

Applications & Core Services

Support line‑of‑business applications and server‑hosted services.

Troubleshoot application outages related to networking, server performance, authentication, or storage.

Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve application‑level incidents.

Assist with application deployments, upgrades, and maintenance windows.

Operations & Escalation Support

Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for escalated incidents.

Support automated alerts and proactive monitoring from the NOC.

Participate in on‑call rotations and critical incident response.

Collaborate with Field Services, Help Desk, and Project teams to resolve complex issues.

Identify recurring issues and recommend long‑term fixes or architectural improvements.

Security & Compliance

Implement and maintain firewall rules, VPNs, MFA, and network security controls.

Support vulnerability remediation, patching, and security hardening.

Assist with compliance efforts (NIST, CMMC, HIPAA, etc.) as applicable to client environments.

Respond to security incidents in coordination with SOC or security teams.

Documentation & Standards

Maintain accurate diagrams, runbooks, and configuration documentation.

Document incident resolutions and lessons learned.

Contribute to infrastructure standards, templates, and best practices.

Ensure changes follow change‑management and documentation requirements.

Requirements Required Skills &

3–5+ years of network engineering experience

Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls

Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, or similar platforms

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
