COBOL Developer
to design, develop, maintain, and support legacy applications primarily on
mainframe systems . The ideal candidate will work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to enhance existing systems and ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Debug, test, and resolve production issues
Work with JCL to manage batch jobs and schedules
Perform unit testing and support system integration testing
Maintain technical documentation and coding standards
Collaborate with cross-function teams for system improvements
Required Skills
Strong experience in COBOL (Batch & Online)
Hands‑on experience with JCL
Knowledge of DB2 and SQL
Experience with CICS (for online transactions)
Familiarity with VSAM files
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
Experience in Mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, etc.)
Exposure to Endevor / Changeman or similar version control tools
Knowledge of Banking / Insurance / Financial domains
Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Nice to Have
Experience with production support
Knowledge of shell scripting or UNIX
Exposure to modernization or migration projects
Seniority level Mid‑Senior level
