Vast is building artificial‑gravity space stations and invites you to join our team of talented engineers and technicians. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Advanced Manufacturing.
Overview As a CNC Programmer you will support development of systems needed for design and build of artificial‑gravity human‑rated space stations. The position is full‑time, non‑exempt, located in Long Beach, CA.
Shift Hours
First Shift: 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Responsibilities
Program complex parts for mills and/or lathes.
Use Hypermill and/or Esprit software.
Collaborate with tooling suppliers to choose optimal tools.
Ramp parts from development to production.
Reduce machine time per part when possible.
Read and interpret aerospace drawings.
Increase overall efficiency of machining operations.
Procure necessary tooling.
Work effectively as a team and hand off workload to the following shift.
Support a strong team environment.
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years CNC machining experience and 3+ years programming experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Working knowledge of GD&T.
Familiarity with inspection tools.
Understanding of CAD and CAM software.
Knowledge of feeds and speeds.
Knowledge of G‑Code.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ensure quality parts are produced from programs.
Strong oral and written communication.
College or trade school certificate.
Knowledge of additive manufactured parts.
Experience with multi‑axis mills, lathes, mill‑turn, and turn‑mill.
Willingness to work evenings/weekends to support critical milestones.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work evenings/weekends.
Lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
Prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and machine operation.
Pay Range
Programmer I: $28.00 – $39.00
Programmer II: $35.00 – $44.00
Senior Programmer: $42.00 – $53.00
Pay: $28–$53 USD (California)
