Job Overview Title: Pyro Equipment Operator

Job Summary Must be capable of performing responsibilities related to extruder operations, pressing operations and tooling operations.

Primary Responsibilities

Extruder Operation: Duties include maintaining daily machine start‑up records, setting up and calibrating powder weighing machines, and possibly operating in a full fire suit with self‑breathing apparatus. Control extruder speed through cycle times and pressure valve adjustments, monitor instrumentation control panel, maintain extruder barrel and die temperatures, vacuum settings, measure completed pellet features per blueprint requirements, keep a safe and clean working environment, and record daily production details.

Pressing Operation: Duties include maintaining daily machine start‑up records, setting up and calibrating powder weighing machines, operating the press in automatic or manual mode, controlling cycle time, monitoring instrumentation control panel, measuring completed flare or bagged composition features per blueprint requirements, maintaining accurate technical data through statistical process control, and keeping a safe and clean environment and daily records.

Tooling Operation: Duties include operating CNC milling machines and conventional milling/drilling machines, machining pellets, maintaining daily machine start‑up records, lubricating machines, maintaining coolant reservoir levels, monitoring filtration system, referencing X‑Y‑Z axes during operation, and measuring machined pellet features per blueprint requirements.

Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

Must be able to wear required PPE equipment.

Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.

Understands and lives by Esterline’s ethics and business conduct policies.

Qualifications

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions; work without close supervision; and possess basic reading and math skills.

Must be able to wear required equipment such as a full‑up fire suit with self‑breathing apparatus. Physical requirements include heavy lifting and movement of drums (50 lbs).

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

High School or GED equivalent.

2–3 years experience in a manufacturing environment; some experience with operation of machinery.

U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien Status required.
