Income Maintenance CaseWorker III Trainer Position IDs: 122900625, 122900626, 122021365, 122021767

Location: Economic Services Division, Cumberland County Department of Social Services.

Responsibilities

Train new and newly promoted staff in Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), Family and Children's Medicaid (FCH), Adult Medicaid, Work First & Childcare Subsidy.

Conduct training on existing and new benefit program policy and procedures.

Provide one‑on‑one employee training support and mentor staff.

Participate in quality assurance/data, staff development, audits, monitoring, and reviews.

Develop training materials/modules as needed.

Answer specific eligibility questions and interpret policy for case situations.

Respond to disasters as needed per Cumberland County DSS policy or state emergency declaration.

Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Education & Experience Graduation from a four‑year accredited college or university; related customer service experience; and two years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience or two years of experience in a NC DSS agency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of program areas of assignment.

General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services that may affect clients/applicants.

Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.

Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public, and public officials.

Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower‑level employees.

Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

Conditions of Employment

Drug testing per County policy; refusal or positive result may lead to withdrawal of conditional offer.

Law enforcement background check required.

Valid North Carolina driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Assistance in emergency or disaster situations as required.

Adherence to the Department’s dress code policy concerning tattoos and body piercing.
