What We Are Looking For An experienced Roller Operator for our Jacksonville, NC – OAJ project who can safely and effectively operate equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform documented pre- shift 360 walk-around inspection of the equipment.
Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate such stated equipment.
The Roller Operator operates controls to guide machine in making successive overlapping passes over the material to be compacted.
The Roller Operator determines speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of material.
The Roller Operator operates self-propelled steel wheeled, rubber tired, sheep foot, vibratory, segmented, or other type roller to compact earth, subgrade, subbase, shoulder materials, or stone cover on surface treatment.
Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Must perform daily maintenance and housekeeping including inspection, checking fluid levels, greasing and cleaning and reporting issues.
Follow safety policies and procedures
Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
One (1) year Roller Operator experience required.
Experience with basic tools and be mechanically inclined.
Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
A thorough knowledge about safety precautions while working.
Work requires exposure to construction site environments having extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, hazardous substances, and loud noise levels.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Provide personal transportation to and from the jobsite.
Willingness to learn and adapt to change.
