Here Is What You Will Do Supervise a Skilled Trades Worker and a Painter II in the maintenance, alteration, and repairs of two heavy‑use Student Center facilities while also serving as a front‑line skilled trades worker.

Plan, organize, and schedule work assignments for subordinates; analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in solving work problems.

Complete requisitions for materials and supplies as needed.

Establish standards for safety and performance to ensure building and fixture repairs are maintained.

Consult with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve buildings and fixtures.

Train subordinates in safe and efficient work practices, methods, tools, and equipment usage.

Perform minor operations, maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, heating equipment, and plumbing.

Perform light carpentry work such as building bookshelves and bookcases.

Install, repair, and service motors, pumps, and fans.

Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and heating systems.

Coordinate access and assistance with campus facility staff, IT staff, and vendors.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Apply knowledge of codes, methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems.

Understand occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Demonstrate ability to supervise others and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Possess a technical or vocational degree in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area; or a high‑school diploma/GED with one year of experience in one of these trades.

Be able to lift 50 lbs and perform strenuous manual tasks.

Hold a valid Georgia Driver’s license.

Qualifications Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Technical or vocational degree in a mechanical trade and two years of supervisory experience; or a high‑school diploma/GED and three years of supervisory experience in a mechanical trade; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Maintenance experience in a heavily used educational or commercial facility.

One year of supervisory experience.
