2nd Shift Corrugator Operator I
As a Corrugator Operator I with Liberty Packaging, you contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. Corrugator Operator I positions are assigned to, and are responsible for mastering, one end of our corrugator (wet end or dry end). This role works within a small group to operate portions of our corrugator by helping setup for orders, moving rolls of paper using material handling equipment, stacking product, testing for product quality, correctly labeling products, and communicating machine issues to leadership and team members to ensure efficiency and timeliness in production. This full‑time position reports directly to a Corrugator Supervisor and is located at our Rock Island, IL manufacturing facility.
Duties And Responsibilities
On the wet‑end of the machine, set up rolls inside the machine, monitor rolls of paper and machine performance, add rolls when needed to ensure continuous run of the order, and support continuous run operations during order changeovers by positioning rolls of paper near the machine via power pallet jack.
On the dry‑end of the machine, ensure orders are completely and safely stacked for transport to other areas of the facility, that quality checks are performed and documented according to standard, and that products are correctly identified with load tags.
Monitor and maintain quality of corrugated paper by performing industry testing and reporting quality issues to plant leadership immediately to maintain accuracy and uphold customer satisfaction.
Proactively identify issues and communicate to the team.
Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined for machine centers.
Other duties, as assigned.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution AND 1+ years of work experience within a manufacturing environment OR 2+ years manufacturing or comparable experience in place of education.
Previous experience with computer skills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
Previous experience applying math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Previous experience reading, following, and/or completing detailed work instructions.
Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Previous experience with reading a tape measure to 1/16” measurement.
Converting and/or Corrugator experience.
Previous experience of pneumatic and electric hand tools.
Compensation & Benefits The starting pay rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
