Deputy Court Clerk

Department: Municipal Court. Reports to: Municipal Court Supervisor.
Summary: Under basic supervision, provides a variety of administrative, customer service, and clerical support functions for the Municipal Court; processes legal documents and payments, reviews and enters data on secure databases, and assists clients of the court.
Essential Functions
Assists court clients and performs a variety of customer service duties within scope of authority and training.
Follows court policies and procedures for specific court duties; receives and processes documents and payments, updates data on secure databases, and releases documents; performs duties in compliance with court administrative orders, regulations, and standards; duties may vary according to assignment.
Reviews cases to verify clients are meeting court‑ordered requirements.
Maintains the absolute confidentiality of all records and information.
Supports departmental operations with regular and timely attendance.
Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and city staff; maintains confidentiality of work‑related issues and city information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
1 year of clerical, customer service, cashiering, and computer experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Principles of bookkeeping, record keeping, and confidential records management.
Entering data into a computer system with skill and accuracy and maintaining electronic records and files.
Providing effective customer service and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements
A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.
Level I Court Clerk certification required within two years of hire.
\ Physical Demands and Working Environment Work is performed in a standard office and municipal court environment. Travel up to 3 overnight training seminars each year. Some weekend and early evening work may be required.
Salary $20.37 per hour.
