Public Works Utilities Maintenance Worker - CDL Minimum starting salary is $19.40 hourly

Minimum starting salary is $23.90 hourly with a Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement

Minimum starting salary is $24.45 hourly with a Class D Basic Water Operations OR Collection Class I License

Minimum Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent

Valid Texas Driver's License

Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement Required within 180 days of employment.

Position Overview Under basic supervision, performs basic unskilled labor tasks in support of the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection (W/WW) facilities, equipment, and infrastructure for the Public Works department.

Essential Functions

Performs general labor work and uses basic tools, vehicles and equipment to assist in the maintenance and repair of W/WW facilities, equipment and infrastructure; follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; performs duties within scope of authority and training; duties may vary depending on job assignment and individual skills.

Public Works Utilities Senior Maintenance Worker - CDL Minimum starting salary is $25.54 hourly

Minimum Qualifications

H.S. Diploma Or GED equivalent

1.5 years of experience as a Utility Maintenance Worker or comparable experience in basic water utility safety, basic water or wastewater practices, and awareness of chemicals used in performing the job.

Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement

Class D Basic Water Operations or Collection Class I license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or equivalent or higher Treatment License

Position Overview Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled labor tasks in support of the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection (W/WW) facilities, equipment, and infrastructure for the Public Works department.

Essential Functions

Performs semi-skilled and skilled work and uses tools to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of W/WW systems.

Drives vehicles to transport equipment to and from job sites which requires a commercial driver’s license.

Follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; performs duties within the scope of authority and training; duties may vary depending on job assignment and individual skills.

Performs operation, inspection, and maintenance of a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.

Performs setup, operation, and maintenance of a variety of safety-related equipment according to utility safety procedures and standard operating procedures.

Communicates with customers to advise them of utility work planned or in process.

Required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.

Required to work in trenches or in a confined space to perform maintenance tasks.
