Job Summary The Fabricator is responsible for welding complex assemblies as required using TIG and some MIG welding techniques.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Operate safety equipment and use of safe work habits.

Operate welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG Welding), gas metal (MIG Welding) or stick welding. Process include stainless steel for food grade, aluminum and carbon steel.

Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

Clamp, hold, tack-weld bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.

Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.

Monitor the fitting, burning and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.

Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

Recognize, set up and operate hand power tools common to the welding trade, such as shield metal are and gas metal are welding equipment.

Layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightness, combination squares, calipers and rulers.

Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, using jigs, welding torches and hand tools.

Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.

Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.

Align and fit parts according to the specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins and hammers.

Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage and other components specifications.

Study engineering drawings and to blueprints determine material requirements and task sequences.

Must have the ability to navigate a CMMS system to complete assigned work orders.

Must have the ability to perform safety checks on machines.

Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts or damaged parts.

Start machines/devices to test their performance.

Dismantles, repairs and reassembles motors valves, gearboxes, pumps, etc.

Must be available to work additional hours as required to keep production running at peak performance when machines are down or not in operation.

Maintains continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.

Follow safety rules and produces and observes the operations to insure a safe environment.

Responsible for neat, clean and attractive appearance of workshop for adherence to GMP’s and OSHA regulations.

Operate forklift.

Possess simple knowledge of rigging when necessary for equipment moving and relocation.

Must be able to complete other duties assigned by supervisors.

All jobs and tasks are expected to be completed in a timely manner.

Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to complete work orders on a tablet.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or GED certificate.

Completion of a technical trade program or training program, preferred.

Fitting and welding experience preferred.

Basic math, reading, and computer skills.

Valid driver's license.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature, may be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility, and must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
