Overview Perform a variety of maintenance functions in the upkeep of assigned golf course and related facilities; maintain fairways, greens, tees and roughs; and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

High school diploma or GED;

and

One (1) year of golf course maintenance or park maintenance experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Methods and techniques of golf course maintenance

Principles and practices of gardening, tree planting and watering

Equipment and tools used to maintain the golf course

Chemicals and fertilizers applied during upkeep of golf course

Occupational hazards and standard safety practices

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work on the golf course

Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner

Perform heavy manual labor

Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Communicate clearly and concisely

Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
