Summary The Head of Network Development role is responsible for leading the strategic development, competitive positioning, and operational management of Curative's provider network across a designated geography: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The primary objective is to ensure the development of a network that is highly competitive against larger health plans in terms of both coverage and unit costs. Key functions include leading complex negotiations with major health systems, managing critical provider relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and aligning network strategy with Curative's overall growth and profitability goals. The Head will also hire, train, and direct a team of negotiators, leverage financial analysis for contract terms, and drive initiatives focused on improving total medical cost and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the network development for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Assure that Curative develops and maintains a network that is very competitive with the larger health plans.
Hire, train and direct a group of negotiators contracting with providers across the designated state(s) and maintaining key provider relationships.
Lead and complete negotiations with the largest health systems in the geography that result in very competitive contracts with those health systems.
Maintain network regulatory compliance in designated state(s).
Manage the most critical provider relationships in the Northeast Region to make and keep Curative competitive with the larger health plans in terms of unit costs.
Work collaboratively with all internal departments to assure that the designated state's network strategy and priorities are fully aligned with Curative’s growth and profitability objectives.
Understand all clinical specialties to ensure contract terms and conditions address the coding structures which are most impacted by negotiations.
Identify and manage initiatives that improve total medical cost and quality; including renegotiation of existing agreements.
Prepare, analyze, review, and project financial impact of high spend or increasingly complex provider contracts and alternate contract terms.
Remote with occasional travel (10%).
Qualifications
Superior problem solving, decision‑making, negotiating skills, contract language and financial acumen.
Experience with complex Hospital / Health Systems, Large Physician Groups and Ancillary provider contracting and negotiations.
Experience in developing and managing key provider relationships including senior executives.
The ability to influence both sales and provider audiences through strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with formal presentations.
Customer‑centric and interpersonal skills are required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.
15+ years of work experience beyond degree within provider contracting and/or health insurance.
Work Environment
